About Us

Michigan Council of Charter School Authorizers

The Michigan Council of Charter School Authorizers (Michigan Authorizers) is a collaborative non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to providing quality oversight of the 265 charter schools operating in Michigan that serve more than 131,000 students. The Michigan Authorizers have been working together to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students and oversee the enhancement and sustainability of Michigan’s charter school network since 1994 – serving their students, families, and communities.

The Michigan Authorizers are responsible for issuing charter contracts to qualifying school boards, accountability and performance standards, and developing innovative ideas and best practices.
